Guest Blogger Christina F. !!!! (LOUD APPLAUSE)
Ladies and Gentlemen, all the way from Sacramento's eight-mile in Mendocino Hall, I present, Arg-YOU-mentation's very first special guest blogger! Nothing short of BRILLIANT & insightful, COMS 2 superstar and newly-successful definitional speech-maker Christina F. (2005) states "for the blog this topic is fairly new its about the rap group G-unit and the rapper 50 cent. To make a long story short 50 doesn't like Ja Rule and one of the rappers in G-Unit called The Game wasn't backing 50 up on the whole beef between the two so he got kicked out!um im not sure if you really want to use it but its an argument in itself" (personal email, March 2. 2005). ASSIGNMENT: For this blog, in order to get credit, you MUST respond to Christina's prompt and connect it to either the hasty generalization fallacy and/OR issues of evaluation for the next speech...go here for more scoop on the big controversy if this topic interests you http://www.mtv.com/bands/j/ja_rule/news_feature_031103/index2.jhtml (a correct Hasty G AND Evaluation will earn TWO points this week.Post your own Fallacy Wrap Name. Mine is Hasty G, so don't be a hater, ah-ight??CONGRATULATIONS for getting through the first and scariest speech of the semester! Peace, out--Hasty G in dah Howse

Dear Kazory--Oops, my bad, yes a Rap name! FYI: A blog response MUST address the prompt, so this doesn't count--but thanks for checking in...If you read the chapter in your book on arguments of evaluation or review the fallacy of Hasty Generalization, you will find that either one is an easy fit for Christina's prompt. You have to do the work to make the connections, K! Since your rap name is so hip, I will give you a hint I REALLY WANT to give you some blogging points! HINT: http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/hasty-generalization.html
Jeffs...not too shabby! Just remember to pronounce it "fitty cents"--another Hasty Gen could be to Christina's whole post..."Since fitty and Ja can't get along, ALL rappers dis their homies" Word to ya mutha--Hasty G.
Yo yo yo...lil' Shay...that's good! The hasty gen and evaluative arguments are not related, BUT we do both in class next week so Christina combined them both in for you Dawgs...A EVALUATIVE SPEECH CLAIM would be: Fitty Cents is a BETTER musician than Ja because he makes better beats, focuses on the music, not personal dissin' & can bust a move like nobody's business! CRITERIA that become my main points are: The best musicians
1. make superior music 2. Don't waste time fighting 3. Can dance AND sing. For each criteria, I give examples about Ja & Fitty to "prove" my point (this is where my citations, evidence & research OR my "because" comes into the body of my speech. So what's the warrant for this one? HINT: (Finger quotes) SHARED VALUES!!!!!!
Alright first of all, the dropping of Game from G-Unit does NOT involve Ja Rule... 50 Cent has dissed Ja for the past couple years, but now he has made some new enemies. On 50's new song "Piggy Bank" he disses Fat Joe, Jadakiss, and even Nas. 50 is mad at Game because he chose to be neutral in the beef since he is friends with Joe and Jada... 50 also is spiteful because he believes Dr. Dre shifted a lot of his effort from working on his album onto working on Game's album. I'm on Game's side because you shouldn't be obligated to attack somebody you are cool with just because your friends say so. The hasty generalization is committed by 50 because he called Game "disloyal" for not supporting his attacks on Joe and Jada. 50 has also said that Game's album wouldn't have been such a success without his contributions to writing and appearing on the album. Somebody from Game's entourage was already shot outside of a 50 Cent interview and we can just hope that we don't lose another rapper to violence...
50 CENT vs. Ja RuleI really think that their "beef" is stupid and childish. I think they're pretending they hate each other only for the purpose of having something to rap about -- since every other rapper is rapping about hoes, drugs, and "gettin` dough." Oh! Look at that a HASTY GENERALIZATION. Not every rapper raps only about those three things. I think that 50 needs to grow up and stop trying to make everyone join the bandwagon in his PERSONAL beef with Ja. The Game, on the other hand, should be happy he doesn't have to deal with 50's stupid, immature G-Unit "crew". kdizzay signing off.
I believe that discussing 50 Cent and Ja Rule is a big waste of time. Who cares ? They make a ton of money to rap about whatever (in fact they make a ton of money to rap about nothing- not to say all rappers are like that) and I really can't imagine why I spent money to go to Sac State and discuss this because, frankly, I will have student loan payments for the rest of my life and they will still be making millions and pulling PR stunts. I would rather discuss people who matter. Oh, but I have listened to their music and I think they ARE worth the FREE radio reception I get in my car.
