Wow.. is turkey an option? The ill is tofu. Allowing tofu throws away tradition dating back to the very first thanksgiving. The turkey (the meat) has and should remain the centerpiece of the table during thanksgiving. To allow this fake substitution called tofu, will cause grave danger to the moral of thanksgiving and will ultimately end future generation understanding of the turkey which without the meat there is no thanksgiving dinner!

Not having a turkey for thanksgiving...is like having Christmas without a tree..it takes away an important symbol representing the holiday. Clearly today's society is to blame for the indecsion of wether or not to chose tofu over turkey.Without all these health food junkies, and radical diets being thrown at our generation, we wouldn't even know what tofu is.

Ill: Tofu in replacement of Turkey
Every person is very much entitled to their own opinions and environmental views.
However I feel as though turkey on a holiday such as Thanksgiving is a time honored tradition that has lived on in America since the pilgrims and Native Americans broke bread together.
I encourage those who may be hesitant to try new things....try new things. Everyone should be open to trying foreign things at least once. A vegitarian perhaps should go to or try turkey on Thanksgiving. Meat eaters...try tofu or a tofu turkey mixture on Thanksgiving. If for nothing else, after Thanksgiving, you will be able to say you tried something new.

Cost/Benefits of choosing tofurkey over real turkey.
Yes, the turkey is the centerpiece of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, however, the turkey is just a symbol of what Thanksgiving dinner is. Putting a tofu turkey in place of a real turkey does not diminish the meaning of Thanksgiving, which is a time to be around families and friends giving thanks. With that said, the benefits of choosing tofu over turkey far outweighs the costs. First, you're choosing something a lot healthier: less fat, calories, and it doesn't lessen the taste. Also, with all the food you're consuming during Thanksgiving, it's wise to choose something with less fat, so you can eat more? Finally, the turkeys will thank you for not eating their friends and family on a holiday that's meant for friends and families.
Cost/Benefits for Tofu turkey.
Wow, it's clear where our first four passionate commentators stand, on this good topic. I believe turkey seems iconic to all holiday meals. But perhaps we can have both on the same plate. I am hesitant to try new things (tofu) but I know in my family gatherings, we share and eat one another's dishes for appreciation for making the food table very diverse and colorful. Although I'm not a big fan of veggies, I often take mouthfuls in mixure of ham, smashed potatoes, and even cranberry sauce just to make it easier for me to enjoy my sometimes overwhelming amount of vegetables. The cost for me for eating tofu is that the taste isn't super delicious but the benefit means It might help add more time to my lifespan. (And keep me from getting in trouble with my parents)

Having turkey on thanksgiving is what we call "appeal to tradition". Why break the American tradition? You may have family that comes over for thanksgiving and would like to enjoy that wonderful turkey. The turkey symbolizes what Thanksgiving is all about. Having Tofu Turkey just breaks away the AMERICAN tradition.
But, Who says you cant have both? Maybe adding tofu into the turkey? that way you can have two in one...=o)

The Blame --
Animal rights representatives and their movements have gotten too out of hand. They brainwash people into thinking that animals are on equal levels with humans. Heck, turkeys drown themselves by staring at the sky when it rains, do YOU? No! And back then, you were lucky to even get the chance of savoring a little piece of turkey, and now people want to substitute it for bland tofu?! These animal rights representatives have done more harm than good. What's next? -- giving the television a break once in a while?! PREPOSTEROUS!!!
Cost and benefits:
Ill-well if you ask me I hate turkey on thanksgiving and I really dont eat chicken either to me it is the same thing, too dry and makes you sleeping right after you eat it, that is why you gain ten pounds for thanksgiving who wants that on their hips. so what is the outcome for thanksgiving not traditional but it will benefit your taste buds go for the nice savory honey ham for thanksgiving that is what I love so I know you will like it too..so go order on at your local store.

Picking a side (pun intended), meat OR veggies is tough. However, not as tough as it would be for our beautifully feathered FRIENDS: the turkeys. Each year, hundreds of thousands of turkeys are unecessarily raised and then butchered for a long lost and irrelevant tradition: Thanksgiving Dinner with a stuffed turkey. The harm goes towards small farms raising the oft overlooked gem: vegetables. The more we push turkeys, the more these family owned farms go out of business. The harm is also the state of the overall health in this country. People already eat monumental amounts of meat daily, what's one holiday centered around vegetables? NOTHING. The harm is putting small family owned farms out of business and power the level of health in this country.
I think I adopted a combination of styles both aggressive but practical. I think aggressiveness when used appropriately can be effective if you do not appear to beating up on the poor little victim. You must no your opponent. This was effective for me because my appointment was somewhat equal in appearance. Also I think being practical allows the debater to seem approachable and likable and a practical person usually has common sense and is able to reach further and change the minds of the massive through their approach. When choosing an approach it is about balance not one over the other.

BLAME (ATTITUDINAL): THE CULTURE OF THE UNITED STATES IS PRETYY MUCH DIVERSE; VEGETARIANS AND CARNIVORES OVER EHRE, GAYS AND STRAIGHTS, OBESE AND ANOREXIC OVER THERE. BUT THE CORE PRINCIPALS THAT THE NATION WAS BUILT ON STILL STAND IN THE FACE OF CHANGE. HISTORICALLY AND STEREOTYPICALLY THANKSGIVING IS "TURKEY DAY". JUST LIKE CHRISTMAS IS FOR OPENING GIFTS, EASTER IS FOR EGG HUNTING, AND THANKSGIVING IS FOR PIGGING OUT. TOFU TURKEY IS AN OPTION, BUT THE ONE THAT GOES "GOBBLE GOBBLE" WILL BE ON THE TABLE.
