The Con Position Paper: Dum dee dum dum dum..........

Hello fellow argumentation bloggers. I hope this finds you well. After you finish your pro position paper...it is time for the Con-Jobbie!!! Sounds like a detective invetigating a scam of some sort....a con, a wise guy.....see what I mean?

In a page and a half or so, create a detailed outline, brief description or draw out a mind map or sketch pictures with words below, whatever, get creative, but give me your resolution and show me how you would argue against change (opposition) and try to point out that there is no prima facie case, the grounds of presuposition should remain intact, status quo should continue...IF IT AINT BROKE, don't fix it.....get my drift? The opposition needs to have an alternative plan in mind, so they should guess what they Gov'ts plan may be and oppose that with a better way to "improve" what is already in place...plus, clash like a color blind designer at Fashion Week baby! CLASH!!! Guess how you might clash with definitional terms in the resolution, any stock issues you know for sure they will present as "contentions" or sub-arguments...Highlight the "dis-ads" or the problematics that come with the government's plan to change things...disadvantages, if you will....emphasize the greater harm that will prevail if the govt changes the status quo with their resolution...show how this is worse than the mild down side of the current system as is...what visual aid would you use to strengthen your argument? When would you put it up? What fallacies will you call the govt on if they make them? How will you summarize creatively and reiterate a strong argument during the rebuttal? Don't forget that even though the Govt begins the case, the leader of the opposition should have some opening comments and a brief introduction prepared as well...stylize your persuasive speaking tactics. rEMEMBER, THIS is not AN ESSAY...Good luck and watch for the humor blog coming next, in audio format for your listening pleasure! PEACE OUT HOME SLICES.

Geez another assignment for Sandra's class! j/k. I believe that having another writing assignment due on the same week of class is just OUTRAGOUS! It's terrible and really not cool. All classroom work should really be done in-class because college students are already overwhelmed with coursework from other classes.

Another contention is that by having one set of instructions on hard copy and the con paper instructions on a blog is just not consistent. Just as the blog expert Mark T. stated "the internet is not effective, because some computers have glitches" This is very true. So overall remember that students are only human.

P.S. I believe Alfredo and Juli can resolve their conflict by finding a win-win. =)

Later,

ADRIANA: I hope i dont make any enemys, but i think that making the whole class write con and pro papers is actually helpful. Like it or not i had to put some work on my speech in order to write the pro paper. On the other hand, i think that writing the con paper will help me in viewing the argument from the other side and allow me to have an advantage, because ill be knowledgeable incase it comes up.
And i think that as "college" students we should be held accontable for going on the blog and looking for assigments if need be, i actually find it easier. and it saves me the struggle of wrestleling with papers.

Hello all. I'd like to say that the idea of assigning work in class and then posting the specifics of it online is not a good idea. In class, Sandra gets us all hyped up to do a con paper, but then leaves us hanging as to what the requirements are. I think a handout should have been given out in class so we could have begun to think about this assignment sooner. Also, with a handout, no one can use the cop-out that they couldn't get online to get the instructions. I think we can all agree that posting an assignment online is a bad idea!

I think that doing these two papers wasn't really that bad becasue it was easy and it made it easier for me to do my part of the opposition.

I dont think doing 2 papers is so bad. It really does help to see the argument from both sides. I just didn't like how both were due in the same week. It added some stress, and stress makes you old sooner, hahaha. Sandra is trying to give me white hairs, jk. =)
