Spring Break...4 weeks from now....You: Mired in a stack of evidence so high you need a ladder to go through it. Your teacher: She must be nuts, this is an impossible workload! After you hand in the evidence assignment, you have to make a prima facie case on the side of Gov't. (for change). Remember...Contentions 1-4....you know, stock issues? Ill, harm, blame, cost benefits...Is it coming back to you now? For this blog, splash some cold water on your face and pretend it's an ocean breeze. Walk over your unswept floor and lie to yourself...it's SAND somewhere near Santa Cruz....or Baja....do a couple sit-ups, shake out your beach towel....is it kicking in yet???? SPRINK FEVER???????!!!!!!!!!!! OK...Make a case for Spring Break....state a rsolution and four simple contentions about anything to do with spring break plans, the length of time we take break, when and where it should happen, how it should change, what one should plan/have/wear/whatever.

1. Resolution: THB Spring Break should be shorter.
2. ILL: Students are being hurt by leaving their studies for a whole week.
3. BLAME: The Los Rios School DIstrict
4. PLan: I propose a long weekend instead: 3 days max. We can rename it: Spring Long Weekend Time. BRILLIANT!!! The communication department could be the first dept to implement this new improved spring "stall" at CRC. I mean, come on people: China doesn't offer a spring break!
5. The benfits will be improved grades and less sunburns and hang overs! This far outwieghs the cost of a few less days at the beach or partying! Vote for me and my team of one curly-headed whack-job teacher coalition.

1. RESOLUTION: CRC's spring break should occur earlier in the semester.
2. ILL: The current spring break is scheduled three weeks before finals, causing students to feel restless, worn out, and anxious by the time it finally comes, which detracts from their final studies.
2. BLAME: The Los Rios School District is to blame for scheduling spring break so late.
3. PLAN: I propose that we extend spring break to make up for the late scheduling; therefore, spring break will now begin on March 30th, extending spring break by three weeks.
4. COST/BENEFITS: This earlier beginning to spring break will benefit the students and the faculty by providing a much needed break to both almost immediately. The extension of spring break will allow everyone to unwind for their deserved amount of time before finals, which will make finals go more smoothly for everyone.

Resolution: THB Spring Break should be extended to two weeks.
ILL: Students who plan to go out of town are being hurt. If they go on vacation for the week (which is why it is called a break), they do not have time to do any work that was assigned before the break. WE NEED MORE HAPPY FUN TIME!
Blame: The Los Rios School District is to blame.
CURE: I propose to extend Spring Break 1 MORE week. The newly extended vacation time will begin April 4th and end on April 15th.
BENEFITS/COST: The added benefits will allow students to actually enjoy the break and at the same time, work on their classwork without trying to sacrifice one of the choices. This far outweighs the current status quo to either spend your break studying or parting because now you CAN HAVE BOTH! If you believe that we should be able to enjoy our break and use it wisely to do well in school, vote for me; the government side!

Resolution: This house believes that Spring Break should occur earlier in the semester, like the first week of April.
Ill: Having spring break later then usual in the semester hurt's the students that attend CRC, being that they look forward to have some down time and a real break from school.
Blame: Ultimately the people that run the Los Rios District are to blame, being that they make the rules on which week Spring breaks falls.
Plan: In my opinion, spring break should fall on the first week of April , so CRC students can get a break and try to relax before finals start.
Cost/ Benefits: The people that benefit the most are the students who attend CRC, who need a much needed break and that cost isn't really an issue being that having spring break earlier wouldn't really effect that.

THB: The week of Spring break should be an American holiday
Ill: As a country, the only Holiday seasons we have are during the winter months. As there are several Holidays during the Summer months, they last for 24 hours.
Blame: The American people have made Christmas a magical time, but have chosen that the Summer has no place for magic.
Cure: Legislation should be passed which would make the week of Spring Break a National Holiday. It would push the American people to go out and enjoy the great weather and enjoy family.
Cost: How could one see this as costly to the America public?!? The benefits clearly outweigh the costs. So vote for our side so you can enjoy life.

Ill- I am being harmed by so much stress from school, as are my fellow classmates. We will continue to be harmed if we do not spend Spring Break at a beautiful and sunny beach! If we spend Spring Break at a nice beach then we will be stress free and we will be able to resume our classes with more energy and will be ready to put in some good work.
Blame- I blame… Mother Earth for not having a beautiful sunny beach right around the corner from CRC that we could all go to and be stress-free.
Plan- I plan to build a beach with my own two hands right around the corner from CRC. To get the money to do this I will rob a bunch of banks.
Cost/Benefits- The benefits of my plan CLEARLY outweigh the costs!! The benefits would affect so many great students at CRC. We would be able to relax and relieve all of our stress from our hard classes. This relaxation would show through our amazing school work and test taking that we will have to do after spring break. The cost is ONLY me robbing some banks, banks get robbed all the time, so it’s no biggie. The cost would also ONLY be my own manual labor, but I got some big guns (muscles) and I can do it in 3-4 weeks :)
So vote for me, the government side, if you want to be relieved of stress!

Resolution - Spring Break at all colleges should be the same week, so we can go on vacation.
Ill - Students need a break during the semester and the best thing is to be able to go on vacation with friends from other schools.
Blame - Public Officials that don't understand the fact that young people like me, love to have fun and I would like to be in Vegas next week during MTV's Spring Break. But i am not able to be there because I will be in school.
Plan - To change all College Spring Breaks to the same week, so if we want to go on vacation with friends from other schools, we have the choice to do so.
Cost/Benefits - It will not cost school officials anything because we already have a week of Spring Break and we pay for our own vacations. We are just getting the break we need/deserve during the semester. We are young, let us have fun and enjoy life.

1. Resolved, schools in the Los Rios college district should hand out manditory vacation trips to cancun mexico to all it's part time and full time students.
2. Ill: students are being hurt by spending all their time on books and tuition, and not enough of their money can be spent on entertainment.

4. Plan: because every student will recive these trips for free, funds must be taken out of funds that normally go towards the Library, because no one likes to read books anyways.

Benefit: Much happier, stress free students that will get to meet peers they never would have met before. They would come relaxed and with an incentive to do better for the rest of the semester. They would be prideful in attending Los Rios Colleges which will attract new enrollment.

Plan: I propose that we eliminate Spring Break all together so that the spring semester will end a week earlier. This will allow us to enjoy summer a week earlier without having to worry about coming back to school for a long while.
The benefits will be that student's studies would not be interrupted with a week off school in the middle of the semester. It's bad mojo to leave something half way and not finish it. This will also allow students and faculty members to be done with school a week earlier, leaving them more time to enjoy the summer without having to worry about coming back to school.
