In our advocacy paper, since we are allowed to write in first person, can we use the words "I", "you", and "my?"

From experience Professors tend to frown upon the usage of online sources for papers. What is your position on this matter?

I have read and understood the syllabus.

Does the debate tournament excuse us from any papers? I remember Prof. Hodgkinson excused us from an assignment if we participated in the tourney.
